SeaWorld CEO to step down as park attendance drops

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - SeaWorld CEO Jim Atchison is stepping down and will be replaced by Chairman David D'Alessandro in January.

This comes after a drop in park attendance and negative publicity surrounding its treatment of killer whales following the documentary “Blackfish”.

Atchison will now become Vice Chairman.

SeaWorld also says an unspecified number of jobs will be eliminated as it cuts costs.
