SAN DIEGO (CNS) - There were 64 crashes on San Diego freeways and unincorporated area streets between midnight and 9 a.m. Saturday bringing the two-day total number of collisions during the winter storm to 470, CHP media information officer Mary Bailey said.

"There were 28 crashes between midnight and 6 a.m. and 36 crashes between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m., Bailey said.

The CHP said crash stats are approximations, and include Temecula as well as San Diego County.

There are 50 to 75 crashes on a normal "good weather" day, the CHP spokeswoman said.

Motorists were also reminded by the CHP that the law requires that vehicle headlights be turned on during inclement weather.
