Attempted kidnapping near SDSU campus

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A late-night attempt to kidnap a woman walking near San Diego State University was reported by SDSU police Saturday.

The incident occurred about 10 p.m. Friday, as three three male suspects assaulted a woman on Alvarado Road near campus.

"Three men approached a female student and two of the suspects grabbed her by each arm and the third pushed her from behind toward an SUV," SDSU police said. 

"One of the suspects told the victim to get into the vehicle, but the victim was able to run away."

The victim of the attempted abduction was not identified.

All three suspects were identified by university police as men about 6 feet tall. 

One suspect was identified as being muscular.

There was no description of the SUV.

The SDSU Police Department urged people walking at night on campus to be aware of their surroundings, walk together in groups and to immediately report any suspicious activity to police.
