Camp Pendleton to conduct large explosive training

Posted: Updated:

CAMP PENDLETON (CNS) - Marines at Camp Pendleton will be training with large explosive devices this week, which could create rumbles through nearby communities, base officials announced Monday.

The Marines will be detonating mine-clearing line charges, which are 1,750 pounds of explosives, according to the Marines.

The charges are used in battle to breach minefields.

The Marines said the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away, depending on atmospheric conditions.

The training will take place through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
