Changes to ease morning commute and border crossing

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A series of traffic changes are being introduced that will impact the morning commute and border crossing in San Diego.

At 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, Customs and Border Protection will announce the launch of their new app for Android, iPhone, and other mobile devices.

The app called “Border Wait” is designed to quickly and effectively alert drivers of how long it will take to cross the border.

Additionally, a new message is set to be posted on the overhead sign on the westbound lanes of Interstate 8 at Hotel Circle.

The sign will point drivers into which lanes to use approaching the 8 and 5 interchange.

Caltrans says this will help during congested traffic so commuters can see which lanes to use in advance.
