Southwest baggage workers picket at Lindbergh Field

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Southwest Airlines baggage handlers picketed in front of the airline's terminal at Lindbergh Field Tuesday.

The protest was one of 16 at airports across the country. The workers are upset that they haven't had a raise in four years and are still negotiating a new contract.

They also say mismanaged flight schedules have led to frequent delays for passengers and put a strain on the airline's operations.

"Without having the staffing to take care of our customers, you're seeing longer wait times, missed bags and everything else," baggage handler Johnny Kaczmarek said.

Southwest responded in a statement, saying it supports the workers' right to express their opinions and looks forward to coming to a contract agreement with the workers' union.
