California drought eases slightly

Posted: Updated:

(CBS 8) – The recent storms have brought California a little closer to recovering from a three-year drought.

A report by the U.S. Drought Monitor found the majority of the state is no longer considered to be in the most severe level of a drought. The wet weather raised major reservoir levels, mostly in northern and central California.

However, the state is still in some degree of drought and reservoir capacities remain below normal.

Experts say California needs at least three seasons of above-average rainfall to get back to normal conditions.
