Accused "revenge porn" site owner to go to trial

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – A judge has denied a motion to dismiss charges against a man accused of running a so-called "revenge porn" website.

Kevin Bollaert is facing felony counts of conspiracy, identity theft and extortion. Prosecutors say he posted thousands of nude photos of women online, then charged them to take them down.

After hearing from both attorneys, the judge ruled Monday that there is enough evidence to go to trial.

"I believe that the evidence from all of those sources showed that the defendant willfully obtained the victim's private photos and their information and used that material to annoy and harass," the judge said.

Bollaert will be back in court on January 5. His trial is set to begin on January 12.
