SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – A La Mesa Toys “R” Us was forced to evacuate due to a bomb threat.

Shortly after 1 p.m., La Mesa Police responded to the Toys “R” Us store located in the 8700 block of Grossmont Boulevard after police say a bomb threat was discovered written on a bathroom stall.

It said a bomb would go off Friday at 2:20 p.m.

Customers and employees were evacuated from the store while authorities and an explosive detection dog searched the building.

Nothing turned up during the search so shoppers were allowed to return to the store a short time later.

An investigation into the threat is underway.
