Donate Life volunteers visit patients at Sharp

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – With just two days left, volunteers are hustling to get a very special float ready for the Rose Parade.

Riding on the Donate Life float this year will be five San Diegans.

On Tuesday, volunteers took time from float decorating to deliver roses to pre-transplant patients at Sharp Memorial Hospital. Donate Life is a group dedicated to promoting organ donation.

"The roses that we give out offer encouragement and hope to them and let them know we've been through this and we know where you are today and that there is hope," volunteer Valerie James-McCleod said.

The theme of this year's float is "The Never-ending Story."

Three of the San Diegans riding on the float received transplants at Sharp Memorial.
