SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - An unlicensed teen driver caused quite the headache for the owner of a Casa De Oro home Friday afternoon.

Witnesses said the teen was going 60 miles per hour in a neighborhood with a posted speed limit of 25 miles per hour, when he lost control of the car, rolled down an embankment and crashed into the house in the 9900 block of Estrella Drive around 2:15 p.m.

The car came to a stop on its side and the 16-year-old driver was able to climb out of the wreck.

His female passenger was trapped inside the car for about a half hour and had to be rescued by first responders.

Both the driver and his passenger were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

No one inside the home was injured. Emergency crews are evaluating if the house is safe to live in.

Police said the driver is facing hit-and-run charges and other offenses could be added later.
