Bodies of two fetuses found outside of Fallbrook yard

The remains of two fetuses were found Friday afternoon in Fallbrook.

SAN DIEGO (CNS/CBS News 8) - Two fetuses found dead Friday along a Fallbrook roadway prompted sheriff's homicide detectives to launch an investigation to find the woman who gave birth.

A resident who lives across the street from St. Peter's Catholic Church called for help at about 1:40 p.m. after peering under a blanket and finding the two fully-developed fetuses left just outside of his fenced-in yard, on the 1700 block of Saint Peters Drive near East Fallbrook Street, sheriff's homicide Lt. John Maryon said.

Maryon said each fetus appeared to be at least 20 weeks old and had its own umbilical cord that were attached to a single placenta.

Sheriff's officials asked for the public's help to find the woman who was pregnant with the fetuses. She would be someone who was recently pregnant, but no longer is, and does not have her two babies following their birth, Maryon said.

Anyone with information was asked to call the sheriff's department at (858) 974-2321 or (858) 565-5200, or to contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
