SAN DIEGO (CNS) - California Highway Patrol officers arrested 69 suspected drunken drivers in San Diego County between New Year's Eve and Sunday morning.
The arrests made on local freeways and in unincorporated areas contributed to the 1,072 arrests made throughout the state by the CHP between just after 6 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
During last year's holiday reporting period, which was two days shorter, CHP officers made 20 drunken driving arrests in San Diego County and 457 throughout the state, CHP officials said.
The drunken driving arrest figures reflect only those made by the CHP, not local law enforcement agencies.
