Officers seize animals at Colina Park home

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – San Diego police and County Animal Control officers raided a home in Colina Park Thursday after several complaints about the condition of animals on the property.

Officers served a search warrant Thursday morning at the home in the 4000 block of 50th Street. Authorities decided to search the property after the homeowner recently brought an animal that was near-death in for treatment.

Homeowner Paula Strong says she and her friends rescue the animals and try to find them homes.

"I had six and Allie had a couple of animals but we knew this, we didn't want to give them away. Some have problems that you would have probably put them down," Strong said.

A guinea pig, a rabbit and two dogs were taken from the property.

Authorities are still investigating to see if any charges will be filed against the homeowner.
