SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The San Diego Unified Board of Education is scheduled to consider a plan tonight to sell Cleveland Elementary School, the site of the deadly "I Don't Like Mondays" school shooting.
The Magnolia Science Academy currently operates a middle school at the location, but the district says it costs more to maintain the campus than the academy pays in rent. The Quail Capital Investments group has proposed buying the campus for $6.1 million.
On January 29, 1979, 16-year-old Brenda Spencer opened fire on the campus from her family's house across the street, killing two and wounding nine. She later claimed she did it because she "didn't like Mondays."
