OCEANSIDE (CBS 8) - Clean-up is underway at a concrete business in Oceanside, after suspected burglars tried to steal hundreds of gallons of fuel.

The suspects were trying to steal diesel fuel at the Superior Concrete Company, but ended up ditching a stolen moving truck and spilling fuel everywhere at the business in the 3200 block of Oceanside Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police found more than 600 gallons of diesel fuel pumped into containers in the back of the truck. The pump was left running, spilling fuel all over the truck and on the ground

Firefighters and hazmat crews cleaned up the mess with a special powder.

CBS News 8 has been told that the facility has been targeted several times. A private detective was hired by the company to look out for suspicious activity, and he was the person who called 911.

Police and sheriff's deputies searched the area with a helicopter and K-9 unit. However, they weren't able to catch the suspects.

Oceanside Police describe the first suspect as a black male, 5'9" with a short braided Afro hairstyle, wearing dark clothing. The second burglar is described as a black male, around 170 pounds with dark hair.

Lt. Valencia Saadat of the Oceanside Police Department said the owner of the stolen car was notified that the vehicle had been recovered.

Anyone with information in this case, is asked to call the Oceanside Police Department.
