Steady rain continues to fall around the county

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A steady rain has been falling across the county since Sunday, causing flooding and downed tree branches.

Heather Zevely captured video of a hail storm in San Marcos while taking her daughter to school. Near Scripps Ranch, rain was also coming down during the morning commute.

At Fashion Valley, Avenida Del Rio is closed. Heavy rain has also caused the San Diego river to rise and flood the roadway.

On Sunday, there were several car crashes as a result of the March storm. One woman lost control of her truck on I-5 south near the 52 East, slamming into the overpass guard rails.

Elsewhere, on the I-5 in Encinitas, the driver of a truck was killed after he hydroplaned and lost control of his vehicle. In another crash, wet roads were to blame for a vehicle fire on the 5 south at Villa De La Valle after the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed off the road.

Rain continued to fall throughout the county overnight, as did snow.

The rain is expected to continue throughout the day.
