SAN DIEGO (AP) — Steve Fisher has no problem with the Mountain West Conference holding its postseason tournament in Las Vegas.

His problem is with it being at the Thomas & Mack Center on UNLV's campus.

When No. 2-seeded San Diego State plays its tournament opener Thursday night, there's a good chance it'll be against the Runnin' Rebels.

"The sizzle going to Las Vegas is apparent," Fisher said Monday. "The excitement there is as good as, if not better than any post-season conference tournament that there is. I like that, our players like that, we all like that."

That said, "I am a proponent of not having to play on someone's home court."

The Aztecs will play the winner of Wednesday night's game between No. 7 seed UNLV and No. 10 seed Nevada.

Fisher suggested moving the tournament to another arena in Las Vegas after the contract with the Thomas & Mack Center expires.

He even mentioned that the last time the Aztecs were in town, they saw the shell of a new 20,000-seat arena being built in a bid to bring an NHL team to Las Vegas.

SDSU swept both UNLV and Nevada, although the Aztecs' win in Vegas last week was by just two points.

The Aztecs (24-7, 14-4 MWC) shared the regular-season title with Boise State, which is seeded No. 1 because it swept SDSU.

SDSU is seeking its sixth straight NCAA Tournament berth.

While the Aztecs would love another shot at Boise State, they don't want to look too far ahead. The Broncos beat the Aztecs by 15 points in Boise and by 10 points in San Diego.

"I think it's easy for us seniors to do that," JJ O'Brien said. "We're trying to prolong the process as long as possible because we don't want it to end. We're real excited about our next game, whoever that may be."

Said senior Aqeel Quinn: "That would be nice to see them again. I don't want to talk about any futuristic stuff, so I'll just leave it at that."
