Police search for gunman in deadly Logan Heights shooting

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – A homicide investigation is underway Wednesday in Logan Heights, where a man in his 20s was fatally shot outside a residence, police said.

The shooting happened in the 2200 block of Ocean View Boulevard and was reported around 9:18 p.m. Tuesday, according to San Diego police homicide Lt. Paul Rorrison.

According to police, the victim suffered at least one gunshot wound. He was shot on the sidewalk and collapsed in the front yard of a house. Police were at the scene within minutes because they were already in the neighborhood and heard multiple gunshots.

Paramedics rushed the man to UCSD Medical Center where he died.

According to witnesses, several gunshots rang out during a verbal fight between several people Tuesday night.

"Our victim was hit and he appeared to try and run away. He made it a couple houses and clips. Residence at adjoining houses were the ones that called in,” said Lt. Paul Rorrison with the Homicide Unit.

Officers are searching for a group of possible suspects. Police describe one of the suspects as a Hispanic male wearing a brown plaid shirt and armed with a handgun.

The victim's identity hasn't been released.
