Meals on Wheels needs your support

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The month of March, which is annually known as March For Meals, mobilizes hundreds of local Meals on Wheels programs across the USA and here in San Diego to reach out to their communities and build the support that will sustain them all year long for donations and volunteers!

Again, it is a month long endeavor and there are many ways San Diegans can support the work of this great non-profit.

Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego serves a nutritious meal, a warm smile, and a safety check that keep over two and a half million seniors a year healthy and living in their own homes in the USA.

In San Diego, they serve annually, 3,139 local seniors covering 4,207 square miles of San Diego County driving 725,000 miles a year with 2,600 current volunteers. But the need is growing for more support, which is the genesis of March for Meals.

With an increase in the 65+ age category over the next 20 years by 72%, our seniors are in need of support more than ever. To help, visit
