SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A 14-year old was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after she got caught in a rip current at Torrey Pines Beach.

The girl was swimming with three other people when the current carried them out beyond where they could stand.

The teen's mother and aunt were on the shore when they saw her struggling. The aunt swam out to help the girl to shore.

The two used the waves to reach a place where they could stand and walked the rest of the way in.

Another teen who was with the group helped the other swimmers to safety.

Lifeguards checked the 14-year-old and took her to the hospital as a precaution.
