California Drought: Creative ways to save water

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - In the face of a fourth year of a statewide drought, Governor Jerry Brown announced unprecedented, mandatory water-use restrictions.

But what can you do around your own home to make a dent in the state's huge water shortage? Well, there is many ways to save water.

Each room of your home has a number of ways you can help save. Your kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, pick a room – there are a number of ways to save.

If your faucet is leaking, grap your wrench. Need some water, get it from a pitcher in your fridge so no drop goes to waste. If you have unwanted ice cubes, use them to water your plants and flowers.

Outside, avoid watering your yard when the winds are high, because the water will evaporate.
