Padres rebuilt and ready for 2015 season

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The San Diego Padres were in Los Angeles Monday where Dodgers won 6-3 in the season opener.

The season kicked off with a new lineup including Craig Kimbrel, who made the All-Star team the last four years. There's also outfielder Melvin Upton Junior who was signed this off season. He had the largest free agent contract in Atlanta Braves history. Upton will make $14 million this year and Kimbrel will pull in $9 million.

It's a new era for the Padres and season ticket holders couldn't be happier.

"We're happy, we've got good ownership, good money, let's put it to work,” said Padres fan Scotty Bowman.

Great House Screen Printing on Kearny Mesa Road is also on board and will print the new Padres t-shirts featuring new pitcher, number 33, James Shields. The shirt features this slogan: "Rebuild and they will come...calling all 10's"

Those at Great House Screen Printing came up with the slogan after Shields called out the 10th man to support the Padres this season.

"I was just explaining to my daughter that this is the 33rd year I'm a Padres fan, so it's just a little ironic that he is number 33 so that was kind of cool. I've always been a Padres fan through the Tony Gwynn years, Trevor Hoffman, we're hoping James Shields is the new Padres,” said Nick Parks with Greathouse Screen Printing.

The t-shirts, licensed by the Major League, are selling for $19.99. CLICK HERE for more information.
