SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man who allegedly knifed his older brother, critically injuring him, during a fight over television at a Grantville home was behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of assault and attempted murder.

Kieran Hallett Devine, 24, got into an argument with his 28-year-old sibling over control of a TV at the residence in the 10000 block of Caminito Cascara shortly before midnight Monday, according to San Diego police.

During an ensuing scuffle, the older man used a cane to hit his brother, who allegedly retaliated by stabbing him, SDPD Officer Dino Delimitros said.

Medics took the victim, whose name was withheld, to a hospital for treatment of a life-threatening chest wound.

The suspect was being held at San Diego Central Jail without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
