Pedestrian safety technology installed in Mission Valley

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The City of San Diego is expanding a program aimed at keeping pedestrians safe.

Officials activated new double flashing beacons and stop signals near Hazard Center Friday. The system is known as a pedestrian hybrid beacon and warns drivers of crossing pedestrians.

The pedestrian activates the flashing beacon, setting off a red light for drivers and a walk signal for themselves.
