SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - San Diego police officers have confirmed that a woman is under arrest for allegedly grabbing and officer's gun and firing it in the Normal Heights area.

San Diego police told CBS News 8 that an officer was responding to a call of a woman being drunk in public in the 3500 block of El Cajon Boulevard.

Detectives say the female officer tried to take the woman into custody, but there was a struggle and somehow, the woman grabbed the officer's gun. She's being identified as 31 year-old Chelsea Saunders.

The gun went off and the bullet went through the officer's pant leg. The officer was not hurt.

Saunders faces a charge of attempted murder of a police officer.
