Local young-man gives hope to the people of Nepal

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Nepal has begun to rebuild after the devastating 7.8 earthquake that killed more than 7,000 people last month, and one local young-man is doing his best to help the efforts.

Those who survived the earthquake do not have much left, but a local man has already begun to give several people brand new beginning.

"I don't eve know how the city is operating. Where are people sleeping? Where are they getting food," said Lisa Rosenbusch.

Lisa's son, Spencer is in Mayhem, in the middle of the destruction, making a difference.

"I'm so amazed and to see he's actually been able to succeed in what was so important to him," she said about her son.

The 21-year-old was on a journey to find himself in Nepal when the earthquake hit, but along the way, he met a family that took him in like one of their own.

Spencer's next stop would have been Mt. Everest, but when the earthquake hit, he found his friends and new family without a home. Their home had been demolished.

Getting aid to those in need has been a slow process, but Spencer decided to set up a Go Fund Me site. Within a few days he over $1,000, a small fortune in Nepal.

It's not bad for a kid who not too long ago had a hard time finding direction in life, according to his mother.

Spencer gave the family the gift on his 22nd birthday. It was the icing on the cake.

Spencer has kept that Go Fund Me site up in hopes others will give those in need.
