City Heights family finds intruder living in garage

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A City Heights family was awoken to the sound of banging coming from their garage early Tuesday morning.

The family called 911 around 3:00 a.m. and when officers arrived at the scene in the 2800 block of 38th Street, they found a man hiding in a cabinet space.

The property owner helped officers and a K-9 unit into the garage where they found the man disoriented and delirious. The man had been living in their garage for a number of days.

Paramedics took him to a nearby hospital. It appears that the man broke through the crack of a garage door and made his way through a small, two foot opening in the cabinets, located along the back wall.

Police say that this is not a case of burglary. However, the intruder will face charges related to trespassing on private property.
