Thousands of caterpillars invade Imperial Beach man's yard

Posted: Updated:
SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Thousands of fuzzy creatures have invaded an Imperial Beach man's yard.

When Richard Soto saw the caterpillars in his trees, he thought he was eventually going to get a yard full of Monarch butterflies.

Turns out, that was not quite the case.

Soto said he has lived in his home for nine years, and this is the first time this many caterpillars have taken up residences in his trees.

CBS News 8's photojournalist Charlie Landon has the details in the above video report.
