San Diegans share ideas to conserve water & energy

Posted: Updated:
SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A group of San Diegans focused on saving water and energy in their homes is assessing their progress.

The group is following the national model for the Transition Streets program.

“Changing to something more local, more sustainable, more resilient that provides for local economies, local jobs,” said Jamie Edmonds, Transition of San Diego.

The group advocates doing simple thing to reduce carbon emissions, save water and cut waste.

Many of the residents have changed to LED light bulbs, installed solar panels and planted drought tolerant landscape.

The changes not only help the environment, but are also saving them money. They hope to continue to spread their message using the neighbor-to-neighbor program.
