Free assistance for flood victims at Ramona Library

The county is offering help to owners with property damage in the recent flood Tuesday morning.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The county is offering help to owners with property damage in the recent flood.

An assistance center has been set up at the Ramona Library and it will operate through Saturday to provide information and resources for residents and business owners. Also, the County Tax Assessor's office announced Tuesday that a tax relief program for flood damaged homes and businesses will be introduced.

Read below for information from the Romana Branch Library Assistance Center 

The center will be open Tuesday and Wednesday, July 28-29 from 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m., and Thursday-Saturday, July 30-August 1 from 9:30 a.m.–6 p.m.

The County of San Diego will offer a variety of information and resources at the center, including:

  • Assistance with building permits and plan checks
  • Crisis counseling information and support
  • How to apply for CalFresh (food stamps) and other assistance
  • Information on debris removal, road cleanup and where to get sandbags
  • Insurance advocate assistance
  • Information on how to repair damaged septic systems
  • Information on what to do with household hazardous waste
  • Information from the County Office of Aging & Independence Services
  • Information on erosion control and watershed protection
  • Assistance with motor vehicle registration and licensing
  • Information to protect yourself from contracting scams
  • Information and assistance from nonprofits including the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), 2-1-1 San Diego and others
  • Child care while onsite
