No showers? No problem! New gadget for the beach

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS8) - California's drought has people across the state conserving water and now a Carlsbad surfer has invented a way for a little bit of water to go a long way.

The device is called a RinseKit and as CBS News 8's Jeff Zevely found out, depending on which beach you go to this summer, it may be the only shower available to rinse off.

The beach can be a dirty business which is why Chris Crawford invented the RinseKit for everyone.

To fill the two gallon container, you connect the RinseKit to your spigot at home. Twenty seconds later and you have your own garden hose... on the go. Because the water is pressurized there is up to four minutes of continuous spraying for all your gear.

Campers, bikers and fishermen are all using the RinseKit.

Chris Crawford was successfully building pools for a living but sold his business to invest his life savings into the RinseKit start up. Like many great ideas, Chris started building his dream in his own garage. Retailers are now carrying his product nationwide.

With no pumping and no batteries, RinseKits can be quickly filled with hot or cold water.

RinseKits cost $90. If you'd like to find a store that sells them near you, visit the RinseKit website here »
