164 Skydivers break world record

Posted: Updated:

ILLINOIS (CBS 8) - Not a bird, not a plan, but a giant flower design was seen in the Illinois sky on Friday during a record breaking skydive.

It took an international team of 164 skydivers and 13 attempts before they broke the record for the largest vertical skydiving formation.

The hand-picked team jumped at nearly 20,000-feet from seven different planes.

The skydivers were from Spain, Australia and the U.S.

The previous world record was set by 138-skydivers in 2012.
