Firefighters battling brush fire in Cajon Pass

SAN BERNARDINO (CBS 8) - Firefighters are making good progress on a brush fire that forced a partial closure of Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass in San Bernardino County Saturday.

The fire broke out in a canyon near the northbound 15, just south of SR 138 around 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

A car and a bus crashed on the freeway, sparking the fire that spread to nearby brush, police said.

Two people were hurt, including a California Highway Patrol officer who suffered serious burns from exploding oxygen tanks.

The blaze moved at a rapid rate and has burned about ten acres, according to fire officials.

The fire comes just weeks after a 3,500 acre brush fire spread through the Cajon Pass, burning dozens of cars and homes.
