SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego is the sixth-best large U.S. city in which to live, according to a survey released Monday by WalletHub, a financial information website.

In sub-categories, San Diego was fifth in livability, eighth in health, 33rd for local economy and taxes, and third in education -- and the San Diego Unified School District was tied for first in the U.S.

WalletHub created the list by taking rankings from its previous studies like "Best & Worst Cities for Families," "Best & Worst Cities for Recreation," "Most and Least Educated Cities" and "Best & Worst Cities to Start a Business," and adding factors such as life expectancy, obesity and the percentage of the population that smokes daily.

Austin was named the best large city to live in, followed by Raleigh, Colorado Springs, San Jose and Seattle.

Other cities in California that were listed were San Francisco, tied for eighth; Sacramento, 15th; Anaheim, 21st; Long Beach, 22nd; Oakland, 23rd; Bakersfield, 25th; Santa Ana, 31st; Riverside, 42nd; Los Angeles, 51st; and Fresno, 53rd.

The worst large U.S. city in which to live, according to WalletHub, was Detroit, followed by Memphis, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Indianapolis.
