Lanes were shut down while crews cleaned up paint spill

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Gallons of paint spilled onto the southbound lanes of the I-15 transition to the West 94 Tuesday morning.

At around 7:30 a.m., about 10 large plastic bins filled with paint fell off the back of a truck and 6 of them exploded on the road. According to CHP, a pedestrian wandered into the lanes, causing the truck driver to suddenly hit the breaks. The paint containers on the truck were not securely tied down, causing them to fall into the road.

CHP shut down two southbound lanes for several hours while Cal Trans and Environmental Services cleaned up the paint.
