Scavenger hunt searches for acts of kindness

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A group of San Diegans is competing in a massive global scavenger hunt that is part silliness, part art and part kindness.

Contestants are awarded points for performing random acts of kindness and as CBS News 8's Jeff Zevely found out, asking television reporters to get involved with the fun.

G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. (which stands for the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen) is a 5-time Guinness World Record breaking scavenger hunt hosted by Misha Collins that you can compete in from anywhere in the world (even from your own home!).   16-year old, Julia Rosecrans, from San Diego and her teammates are hoping to win a trip to Costa Rica.  The contest started on August 1 and ends in on August 8.

Thousands of participants from more than 100 countries build their own teams with friends or are placed on 15-person teams.  The team that scavenges the most items with the highest quality of submissions joins Misha Collins on an all-expenses paid trip to an exotic locale.
