Foster kids reunite with siblings at Camp Connect

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - More than 100 youth separated from their siblings in the county of San Diego's foster care system are scheduled to head to Julian this afternoon for the four-day Camp Connect.

County officials try to keep brothers and sisters together when placing foster youth in homes, but can't always do so for a variety of reasons.

The annual camp gives the kids a chance to reunite and enjoy rock wall climbing, swimming, hiking, archery, horseback riding, a talent show, music therapy and dancing.

The camp is made possible through a partnership between the county Health and Human Services Agency, the nonprofit Promises2Kids -- with funding from Kevin Prior, president and CEO of the ICW Group Insurance Companies.
