SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Junior Seau was on the minds of many Saturday at the Chargers Annual Fanfest.

The free event gives fans a chance to watch the team practice and get up close and personal with their favorite players.

The mood inside Qualcomm Stadium Saturday was similar to a real NFL game, from catching a glimpse of quarterback Phillip Rivers, to collecting autographs, spotting cheerleaders and excited fans.

Fanfest takes place during training camp every year, but this time around the feeling is a bit different, given the chargers uncertain future.

As optimistic as some fans are, the Chargers have expressed interest in a move to the Los Angeles area.

City leaders are working on a new stadium proposal in hopes of keeping the team here.

While that's underway, players like crowd favorite Eric Weddle, decided to focus on the hundreds who came out to support the San Diego Chargers.

"Hearing the cheers and the chants, it's pretty special," Weddle said, "That's why you play the game, for these people right here."

"It's not gonna change for me being a fan, I will still be a fan if they move to L.A., but I hope San Diego does something for them and they get to stay in San Diego," Jennifer Mull said.

Several Charger Alums were also on hand Saturday greeting fans, including Nick Hardwick and Lorenzo Neal.
