Gas prices continue to drop in San Diego County

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Sunday for the 24th consecutive day, decreasing 2.3 cents to $3.771.

The average price has dropped 46.5 cents over the past 24 days, including 3.3 cents on Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The decreases follow a seven-day stretch of increases totaling 73.7 cents that pushed the average price to its highest amount since May 8, 2014.

The average price is 20.5 cents less than one week ago and 11.3 cents lower than one year ago but 27.2 cents more than one month ago.

The decreases are expected to continue because of the large gap between wholesale and pump prices, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's communications manager.
