Concept Art: A look at the proposed Chargers stadium throughout the process

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - As Mayor Faulconer and his advisory group continue to negotiate with the Chargers on a stadium deal to keep them in San Diego several concept art throughout the process have been unveiled of what the stadium could look like when (or if?) it's ever built.

Designs for the new stadium have floated around since 2009 when there was still talk about building a stadium alongside Petco Park in the East Village or even relocating to Chula Vista.

One of the first to take a stab at it in 2009 was developer Perry Dealy with a plan to redevelop the area around the existing Qualcomm site. His idea involved residential, retail, hotel as well as SDSU classroom and office space. Chargers attorney Mark Fabiani at that time called Dealy's project "fantastical," with "mythical skyscrapers, mythical prices and a mythical stadium."

Another concept which focused on a downtown plan was from an Australian architectural design studio based in San Diego. De Bartelo + Rimanic was inspired by the Chargers lightning bolt logo.

"We explored the notion of taking the logo and extending it to an architectural form," Pauly De Bartolo told CBS 8 back in 2011.

The Chargers and the Raiders have also united to develop a football stadium on 170 acres of space in Carson. A couple of concept designs for the proposed Carson stadium have made their way into the collection as well - with one of the designs featuring what looks to be a tower shooting holographic lightning.

The latest iteration comes from Populous - an architectural firm that specializes in building sports facilities. Their plan showcases a Mission Valley stadium with a futuristic gateway entrance resembling Disneyland's Tomorrowland.

Here's a look at a few Chargers stadium concepts throughout the on-going, if never-ending, search for the perfect San Diego football playground. Based on aesthetics which stadium design is your favorite?
