Judge issues warning to accused drunk driver

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A judge issued a stern warning Thursday to a man accused of driving drunk and killing two people on Interstate 15 near Scripps Ranch.

Shane McDonald was in court for a preliminary hearing. However, the hearing was postponed, but prosecutors asked for an increase in bail, noting that McDonald's anklet monitor showed alcohol in his system, which is a violation of his bail.

The anklet also went off-line for a short time.

McDonald's lawyer claimed it was a false reading, but the judge said she didn't buy it.

She warned McDonald that if it happened again, he would face severe consequences:

“If you have any other claim from scram or anyone else that you're not following the directions of the court, I'm going to increase your bail to over a million dollars,” said

McDonald is due back in court on September 17.
