Sweetwater Valley All Stars LL World Series bound

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The Sweetwater Valley All-Stars surged passed their competition in Saturday's Little League West Regional tournament. They beat the Waipio team of Hawaii with a score of 12-9.

Fans are ecstatic over the big win. They met up at Pizzo's Pizzeria in Chula Vista for a watch party to root the home team on to victory.

Eyes glued to the TV in excitement, fans of the Sweetwater Valley Little League team were we’re larger than life.

"My voice I don't have a voice, these guys are awesome," said fan Dave McDonald while holding his eight-year-old son Steven on his shoulders.

Cheering loud and proud, the face-off against the Waipio team of Hawaii was no feat.

Playing like a high school team, it was hard to believe the Bonita baseballers were still kids. So many showed outside a packed Pizzo's pizzeria to support.

"Our community is really tight knit, we have parents that are constantly picking up other children to go to practice, we go to the same schools we go to the same events, as you can see what a great turnout at the local eatery, you know everyone is having a great time," said Fernando Verdugo, Sweetwater Valley board member.

It was an intense game for the undefeated team playing in the championship tournament in San Bernardino, but victory belonged to Sweetwater Valley.

Now the All-Stars advance to the the Little League World Series Series in South Williamsport, Penn. making them the 11th team from San Diego County to have played there.
