Ferrari and Maserati designer takes on hotel decor downtown

The Keating Hotel, which is housed in a building celebrating its 125th anniversary this year is one of a kind.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The Keating Hotel, which is housed in a building celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, is one of a kind.

First completed in 1890, the building has been a bank, a library, and more before transforming into one of the city’s first luxury boutique hotels in 2007.

It is also home to San Diego's first elevator and is the only remaining steam-powered elevator in the area.

Pininfarina is behind the design. The firm designs Ferrari and Maserati luxury vehicles and is partnered with the hotel for the first time.

There are 35 rooms in this boutique hotel with modern designs and original structural elements to create a unique look.

CBS News 8's Ashley Jacobs files a video report from the Gaslamp District to give us a tour.

Please Note: The prize giveaway featured in the videos is only valid during the live broadcast at 6:00 a.m.
