SAN DIEGO (CBS 8/AP) - The Bonita-based Sweetwater Valley Little League knocked it out of the park in their Little League World Series opener with a 14-2 win over a team from Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The five home runs in an inning - hit by five different players as part of an 11-run inning - tied a series record set in 1992 by the Dominican Republic. The game was stopped after the top of the fourth inning because of the 10-run mercy rule.

The game was played one day after the opening slate of contests was rained out.

Pitcher Dante Schmid allowed two runs in 3 1/3 innings, struck out eight and also hit a three-run home run.

Antonio Andrade ignited the record barrage when he led off the third inning with his 16th home run during all-star competition. Pinch-hitter Nick Maldanado hit a two-out grand slam that made it 9-0; Nate Nankil, Levi Mendez and Walker Lannom also homered.

Carson Kelley hit a two-run home run for Kentucky.

Sweetwater Valley is 17-0 in its four tournaments, including outscoring its four opponents 50-22 in the West Regional to become the 11th team from San Diego County to qualify for the Little League World Series.

The game was watched on television by numerous fans who gathered at the La Finca D'Adobea Mexican restaurant in Bonita.

A viewing party is scheduled for their next game against Pearland, Texas, which defeated Oregon, 1-0 in the World Series. The public is invited on Sunday to watch the game on a big screen at the SVLL field, 3321 Conduit Road, Bonita, CA. Gates to the field will open at 10:30 a.m. Fans can bring chairs and blankets onto the field.
