Search for gunman in deadly Encanto drive-by shooting

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8 /CNS) - A shooting at an Encanto strip mall left one person dead and another wounded Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses reported hearing about four gunshots shortly after 1:30 p.m. in the area of a trolley station at Akins Avenue and 62nd Street, according to San Diego police.

Officers located two males, in the parking lot of a business, who had sustained gunshot wounds.  

The first was a 25 year-old male who sustained at least one gunshot wound to his upper torso. Officers and medics rendered medical aid to the victim and he was transported to a local hospital.

Unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The second male victim also sustained gunshot wound(s) to his upper torso and was transported to a local hospital. He is listed in fair condition.

A suspect vehicle was described as a blue or grey 4-door sedan seen leaving the area immediately following the shooting.

The victims' identities are known but will not be released until additional family notifications have been made.
