SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Here on CBS News 8, you always hear us saying, call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. The tip line offers rewards for information that leads to an arrest.

On Saturday, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and San Diego Police Department are joining forces to raise money for Crime Stoppers.

It's the 'Light the Night Against Crime 5k Run/Walk' in San Diego's Balboa Park after dark. The event will fund the Crime Stoppers Anonymous Tip Line, community events and school programs.

It's a family friendly event with super cool kids-zone and a Sheriff's haunted bus. So come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume.

Crime Stoppers started in 1984. Since its inception it has helped law enforcement agencies all over San Diego County solve more than 27,000 crimes.

CBS News 8's Ashley Jacobs, in the above video, reports from Kearny Mesa with more on the program and how you can help.
