PALOMAR MOUNTAIN (CNS) - An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.1 rattled parts of San Diego County Tuesday.

The temblor hit shortly after 4 a.m. at a depth of around 3.7 miles, its epicenter 7 miles southeast of the Palomar Observatory, 9 miles west of Warner Springs and 19 miles east-northeast of Escondido, the U.S. Geological Survey reported, based on a computer-generated report.

No damage was reported, but a handful of people in Pauma Valley and Valley Center told the USGS they felt weak shaking.
