SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It has been about two months since a South Bay woman, better known as the Crystal Ninja, began her attempt to set a Guinness World Record by coating her car with crystals.
There's nothing like encrusting a car with crystals to put a person in the driver's seat.
Seven weeks ago, we first introduced you to Kelly Defries. She is better known as the Crystal Ninja, a woman who coats everything she touches with Swarovski crystals.
Her latest project was bigger and bolder than even she imagined.
To coat her car in crystals, Kelly has worked 12 to 14 hour days since September.
One night she was up so late, she dropped her tray of treasure when a fly flew in her ear.
Kelly is on the verge of setting a Guinness World Record. She bought her Porsche for $40,000, but it's the $65,000 worth of Swarovski crystals that makes it shine.
The looks of envy may be priceless, but even a labor of love has a price tag, $180,000.
The Crystal Ninja is offering a contest with $500 in prizes for the person who can guess the number of stones glued to her car.
