POINT LOMA (CBS 8/CNS) - A 55-year-old man walked out into traffic on a busy street in the Point Loma area and was fatally struck by a teenage driver's SUV, a San Diego police officer said Thursday.

The pedestrian walked from the bike lane on southbound Rosecrans Street near Quimby Street into the path of a Ford Expedition for unknown reasons shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said. He died at the scene. His name was not immediately released.

Two nurses, who stopped, tried to give the man CPR, but it was too late, police said.

The SUV's 17-year-old driver remained at the scene, Delimitros said. She was apparently uninjured. She won't face charges.
